Emergency care provider LIVES selects m-hance to implement its new charity finance system

m-hance, a leading Microsoft Gold Partner and provider of Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions to the Not-for-Profit sector, was selected by LIVES to implement a new finance system that was not only fit for purpose but would also provide important compliance and governance to the team’s processes.

The LIVES concept was developed in the 1970s by Dr Michael Cooper and Dr Richard Harper-Smith with the simple purpose of providing expert emergency medical assistance for road traffic accident victims and trauma patients in the county of Lincolnshire. The concept has grown over the decades with the organisation recently celebrating its 50th year. LIVES is the largest organisation of its type in the country, with an army of volunteer Responders and clinical response teams including the ground-breaking Community Emergency Medicine Service (CEMS) and the LIVES Falls Response service. These teams use LIVES emergency response skills to bring care to patients who might not otherwise benefit. The charity’s mission is to work with its communities to ensure that any individual who suffers a 999-medical emergency in Lincolnshire can be assured that they are surrounded by the best rapid response care available.

When the finance team at LIVES needed a new finance system, their requirements were that it needed to be fit for purpose, good value for money, ensured financial compliance and gave them purchasing approval and meaningful reporting. They approached m-hance who introduced them to a Microsoft solution that would meet their requirements – NfP 365 Finance Gold, which is a packaged solution built upon the framework of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Microsoft’s newest ERP system) and tailored to the needs of the charity sector.

Matt Peace, Account Director at m-hance says:

“We are thrilled that LIVES chose m-hance and our NfP 365 Finance Gold package as the solution that best fit their needs. Following a successful implementation and go live, the solution has enabled the team to make informed strategic decisions based on accurate, well presented and up-to-date data. Having gone through the process of implementing a new finance system, the team are also benefitting from understanding the wider technology stack available to them. This has generated further business-wide projects they are now working on as a result. This is a great example of what outcomes can be achieved with a charity specific, tailored finance system and we are very much looking forward to continuing to work closely with the team.”

The team at LIVES are now set up and using their new NfP 365 Finance Gold system following an initial roll-out earlier this year. They have also recently gone live on m-hance’s Partial VAT module which will give the team functionality to assist with VAT recovery calculations. Additional modules are due to be implemented including a Purchase & Expense Management App which is built on a Microsoft Power App and personalised Power BI reporting packs (built on the Microsoft Power Platform) which contain charity-specific SORP reports. The implementation of the Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit is also underway, with an initial go live of LIVES’ team of medical volunteers, giving them the ability to view and maintain their training accreditations through a portal.  Upcoming work includes resource scheduling and the management of patient records, as well as fundraising – meaning that LIVES will benefit from a true end-to-end Microsoft solution.

Stephanie Gibson, Head of Finance & Performance at LIVES says:

“From our initial discussions about a new finance system, it became clear that m-hance could offer an entire solution for our data requirements, from volunteer/Responder records and a customer/supporter CRM system. Microsoft 365 Dynamics Business Central became the first phase of a fully integrated Common Data Model IT strategy, borne out of partnership working & development with m-hance. The implementation process has been well managed, with clear responsibilities and deadlines for both parties, and we have taken a ‘train-the-trainer’ approach which has enabled us to have our own on-site experts within each system. It really has been a collaborative effort, and we look forward to more future developments with them.”

NfP 365 Finance Gold is a packaged version of NfP 365 Finance which also includes NfP 365 Finance Silver and Platinum. Included in the wider NfP 365 suite are further products built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and tailored specifically for charities. Also included are Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions NfP 365 Enterprise, NfP 365 Fundraising & Engagement, NfP 365 Help & Advice, NfP 365 Power Platform and NfP 365 Power Apps; demonstrating m-hance’s ability to offer charities a true Microsoft Dynamics 365 end-to-end solution for all their fundraising and finance requirements.
