April 2022, UK.
m-hance, a leading Microsoft Gold Partner and provider of Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions to the Not-for-Profit sector, has been selected by Woodgreen Pets Charity to bring together supporter information contained across multiple, disparate systems.
Established in 1924, Woodgreen Pets Charity is an animal charity that makes a difference to the lives of pets and people across the UK. The organisation prides itself on being a multi-species charity, meaning that it can support and care for a broad range of pets that need help. Its services and activities span across cats, dogs and small pets including rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and chickens. The team is passionate about supporting as many pets and pet owners as possible. They have unparalleled knowledge and expertise in caring for pets across a large variety of species and helping future and current pet owners in finding and looking after their pets.
What sets Woodgreen apart from other animal charities is that the team’s ultimate goal is to work with people, to understand their pet issues, and provide advice and guidance so that they can reach a point where they don’t have to give up their pet anymore. Over the last few years, the number of people giving up their pets, for a whole host of different reasons, has been increasing. With the charity soon celebrating its centenary, it has developed a strategy to ensure it remains resilient following a turbulent couple of years in the sector, whilst continuing to care for and rehome animals, and provide support and advice so that pet owners and their pets can stay together.
In this changing landscape, Woodgreen’s supporter model was becoming increasingly complex, with individuals having multiple roles (such as volunteer, donor and fosterer) and with data contained across separate systems. The team embarked upon an ambitious digital journey that would start to bring information together to enable them to better understand their supporters.
Alan Moody, CEO at m-hance says:
“To be selected by Woodgreen to assist with their digital evolution has been an absolute privilege. The project is very much underway, with the charity already benefitting from their new charity-specific, Microsoft solutions following the successful go live of both Phases 1 and 2. We have a very capable team working on the project who have a wealth of experience of delivering Microsoft solutions to charities. We are very much looking forward to continuing to work closely with the team at Woodgreen to successfully deliver the rest of the project.”
Phase 1 started with the implementation of NfP 365 Help & Advice, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service, for Woodgreen’s pet supporter care information which was previously contained on spreadsheets. This is already benefiting the charity as helpline calls can now be logged directly into the solution and includes integration with Woodgreen’s veterinary solution ezyVet. Users can now access a centralised solution, efficiently capture data and monitor cases.
Phase 2 of the Programme saw the implementation of NfP 365 Finance, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, to replace the organisation’s existing finance system, which has recently gone live.
Phase 3 has seen the completion of the Discovery Phase and build has started to replace Woodgreen’s animal rehoming software, Anilog. Using Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform this will manage the admissions, fostering, matching and rehoming of animals, helping to create a 360-degree view of those who interact with the charity.
The final phase in 2023 will see the replacement of Raiser’s Edge for donations, campaigns and event management within the Dynamics 365 Fundraising and Engagement solution.
Rohan Putter, Director of Income and Innovation at Woodgreen Pets Charity says:
“Our project with m-hance will bring us in line with our strategy and will enable us to work in a much more effective and efficient way – bringing together our data so that we can better understand our supporters, as well as automating processes so that we can communicate with the right people, at the right time and with the right messaging. m-hance was recommended to us by another charity and during the procurement process it quickly became apparent that the team really understood our needs. I am really excited to see the full benefits of having an end-to-end integrated solution here at Woodgreen.”
