Our Keynote Speaker

How do you build an AI capability in your organisation – and what will it look like?

Stuart is an expert in building Tech/Digital/Data/AI capabilities in charitable organisations. He will discuss future organisational models, and what an AI capability might look like. Rather than approaching from a Systems viewpoint, Stuart approaches from a ‘whole-organisation’ view – considering people, skills, roles and relationships – and how these will work together in a world where AI has become normalised. Stuart will consider how a people-driven organisation in the Charity/NFP sector will develop – and how elements such as volunteers and societal impact may take purpose-driven organisations in a different direction to corporate entities.

Stuart McSkimming is a recognised thought leader in the application of AI and emerging technologies for charities and not-for-profits. Named in the 2025 AI100 list of the top 100 people shaping the future of AI in the UK, Stuart brings over two decades of senior leadership experience in the sector, with a focus on digital transformation, strategic alignment, and inclusive team development.

He is the founder of Virtue Chain, a consultancy dedicated to helping mission-driven organisations harness the power of Technology and AI. Stuart also serves as Deputy Chair of Charity IT Leaders, where he champions sector-wide collaboration, innovation and leads the charity-sector AI special-interest group.

Prior to working in consultancy, Stuart held CIO roles at Shelter and the Royal British Legion, and has contributed to a range of other organisations across the charity landscape. Known for his ability to galvanise teams and align technology with organisational purpose, Stuart is passionate about inclusion and building diverse, high-performing teams that reflect the communities they serve.
